Worlds Oldest Bass Tournament

Big Bass Classifieds: presents;

The Worlds Oldest Bass Fishing Tournament
The Texas State Bass Tournament is, the Worlds Oldest Bass Fishing Tournament.

The year was 1955. Earl Golding, Outdoors Editor for the Waco Tribune-Herald, organized the very first bass fishing tournament; the Texas State Bass Tournament. No big prizes were offered, just the honor of being recognized as one of the State's top anglers, plus the opportunity to see and make friends from all parts of the Great State of Texas. Part competition, part reunion, this event offers various competitive divisions that encourage family and youth participation. Participants range from anglers attending their first bass tournament to seasoned veterans. For many, if they only attend one tournament event a year, this is the one! -Texas State Bass Tournament website

Jump forward now, to the 2008 Texas State Bass Tournament. It's Lake Sam Rayburn. One of the finest Big Bass fishing lakes in Texas -which, of course, makes it one of the finest Big Bass Fishing lakes in the world- Lake Sam Rayburn for the 2008 Texas State Bass Tournament was blasted by 900 mile per hour winds and a cool front, that turned down right COLD!

Never to mind however as "this",
is the Texas State Bass Tournament! A tournament where first prize is NOT a $100,000.00 Bass Boat. NOT, a $50,000.00 Bass Boat. And NOT even a two dollar rod and reel. No sir-ree folks! None of that Big City, High flunten, Vanity Ridden, $1,000,000 First Prize hullabaloo fer the winner of this tournament. Nope, all yer gonna get in this tournament, is recognition, and a plaque.

Ah, but the recognition! Now that's something to consider.
Hmmm? "My name", in Lights!
Well, in front of some of the Biggest Bass Organizations
and Manufactures in the world, that's all.
But isn't that enough?

Well it was for us. And when we pulled up to the boat ramp, we could see White Caps, as far as the eye could see. It was clear "Blue Bird" skies though. And as the wind had already blown away all the "Wind Warning Flags", it was Perfect.

How was it perfect you ask? Because, it was me and my Dad. That's why it was perfect. And he even let me back the boat down into the water. Unfortunately, as the wind was blowing, the waves were beaten the dog out of the boat ramp. That, plus I kinda backed the boat into the water a little Too fast and Dad, was covered up by the biggest wave I have ever seen. (Oppps!)

Naturally Dad pretended it was no big deal, and even "waved" me on to park the truck. I did and as I headed back down to the pier I could see him wringing his shirt out over the side of the boat. I really felt bad but when I got to the pier he was all smiles and even Laughing. "I got Wet!" he said. I told him I was sorry but he said, "Don't worry about it! That's just part of having fun. By the way, did you get the number of that wave that got me?" We both laughed and needless to say, the rest of the day was great. We didn't make weigh-in however. But that didn't matter. Because I got the Best Dad in the Whole World.

In the Texas State Bass Tournament, there are 6 divisions. Here are the Top (3) Three Tournament Winners for each division. (and no, you will not see my name among them. until Next year that is.)

BBC- Al Gore serves Endangered Sea Bass at Daughters wedding

Big Bass Classifieds: found at digg, a report on Al Gore's Hypocrisy by Rebecca Keeble and the Daily Telegraph (Aus). The story is almost a year old, however, with Presidential Candidate Barack Obama "recently" stating he favored Al Gore as a running mate; well, this story Needs to be published again. So here it is-

Al Gore serves Endangered Sea Bass at Daughters wedding

ONLY one week after "Live Earth", Al Gore's green credentials slipped while hosting his daughter's wedding in Beverly Hills.

Gore and his guests at the weekend ceremony dined on Chilean sea bass - arguably one of the world's most threatened fish species. * Rebecca Keeble is program manager for Humane Society International.

Girls Gone Fishing!

Girls Gone Fishing!
Terri Mackinnon and Cindy Burnham follow the Professional Bass Fishing Circuit.

Canadian female anglers Terri Mackinnon and Cindy Burnham made their journey to Chesapeake Bay, Maryland in October 2007, to compete as the first Female Pro Team to make the U.S Angler Choice Classic and the bragging rights to also represent Canada.

...The two women decided to try the Team concept and signed up to spend the year fishing the U.S Anglers Choice series on Lake Erie. They successfully took the top 3 position in there division with an impressive 700+ point season. Both women were excited to represent not only Canada, but women in general when they fished against some of the best bass angler pairs teams in the U.S.

Big Bass Classifieds- The Four Stages of Springtime Bass

Big Bass Classifieds: found at digg, an article by digger "HARDKOREFISHING" (http://digg.com/users/HARDKOREFISHING);

The Four Stages of Spring Bass. (a tutorial)

The Four Stages of Spring is an outline of where to find bass in their Spring migration from prespawn through postspawn. written by Sean_McLoughlin; this is Part 1 of a three part series on the "Seasonal Patterns" of Spring time Bass, divided into four distinct stages.
  1. Stage 1 Pre-spawn,
  2. Stage 2 Pre-spawn,
  3. The Spawn,
  4. Post Spawn.

[excerpt] One of the most crucial aspects of being a successful bass angler is being able to locate fish as they move through their seasonal patterns. Once you learn these movements forward, backwards, and sideways, you can take your knowledge to any lake in the country, find fish fast, and be successful.

The Four Stages of Spring is part one of a three part seasonal outline. I will be adding an outline for Summer fishing and for the Fall transition as the season progresses. Hopefully you will find these outlines a little more detailed and dotted with a few more delicious tidbits than other seasonal outline articles.

Lake Fork Info.com may be For Sale!

Big Bass Classifieds:

Lake Fork Info .com May be For Sale!

Lake Fork was created as a textbook fishery, including initial stockings before the lake filled. Lake Fork was established, by the Texas Parks and Wildlife, as a premier bass fishing lake, with 732,514 Florida Black Bass being stocked from 1979 through 1987. Lake Fork offers excellent fish habitat with 80% standing timber left intact, and hydrilla, milfoil, and duckweed being the predominant vegetation. Other species of fish include Catfish, Black and White Crappie, Sunfish, and Bluegill. The predominant food source for the larger fish is Shad, Minnows, and Crawfish. -more at wikipedia.

Lake Fork Texas, as it has come to be known, is located just East of Emory Texas, South of Yantis Texas, North of Quitman and Alba Texas, and is without a doubt, the Best Black Bass Fishing Hole in the World!

Well ok, maybe the latter part of that statement is a bit of a stretch. But I can tell you that 40 out of 50 of the Texas State Record Black Bass have come from Lake Fork, and that it is in fact, The Hottest Black Bass Fishing lake in Texas with Millions of Bass fishermen ... Bass Fishing Tournaments numbering in the 10's of thousands?... hu? What?

Well, you see, I don't know all those numbers. In fact, I'm doing well just to keep up with BigBassClassifieds.blogspot.com. But then, that's where You come in!

Every Day, I search for information on anything having to do with Bass Fishing. Lakes, Lures, Tackle, Tackle Shops, Boats, Boat Shops, ...and even "Bass Fishing Websites"!

Well Today, I decided to write an article on "The Legendary Lake Fork Texas"., and was in the process of gathering my research when... I just Naturally typed-in "LakeForkInfo.com" into my browser. I mean, where else would you go to find Lake Fork Information, right? I mean sure there are tens of thousands of Lake Fork Fishing sites around. But, when you're looking for Specific information, you wanna go to the site that has it all. So, LakeForkInfo.com here I come.

Yet to my Surprise, this is what I found...

That's right NOTHING! Absolutely nothing. Well, there was, One redeeming quality about LakeForkInfo.com.

Note,
the short Tiny little sentence in the upper right hand corner
of the LakeForkInfo.com homepage as it reads;
"THIS DOMAIN MAY BE FOR SALE"!!!

...COOL, hu?

Now I didn't click the link and get all the info as all I'm interested in, is listing the listing. Making the knowledge known to those who may be interested. ...and have the money.

I mean let's face it. If I had the money for this potentially Dynamite .com site, do you think I would be on a Blogspot Blog??? or that I would even Tell You about it?

No! I'd go buy that site right now and hits the streets (so to speak) promoting it. Why, I'd make the Best Lake Fork website of All Lake Fork websites. The "GoTo" site, for all the thousands of Lake Fork Bass Fishermen who fish Lake Fork each year.

But, as I am a realist (and in not allowing myself to be deceived by my self). I have decided to pass this little jewel of a Big Bass Fishing website along to whomever has had the fortitude, to read this edition of Big Bass Classifieds down this far. I mean, there's gotta be a reward for doing that!

So here it is, the link to "LakeForkInfo.com".
Once your there, just click on the "THIS DOMAIN MAY BE FOR SALE" link in the top right hand corner of the page and you'll be well on your way to a Big Bass Fishing Bonanza! Well, you know what I mean.
